Website design for independent shops in Horsham
Independent shops lose people when the hours are wrong or the site never says what is actually on the shelves. Visitors coming in from the Carfax or the station want to know you are open, what you sell this month, and how to collect or enquire.
A shop website is a window you control. It should name the kind of stock — books, homeware, clothes, gifts — and keep a short “in at the moment” note you can rewrite on a Monday morning. A pretty homepage that never mentions the product is a closed door.
Horsham is a West Sussex market town. The usual loop is the Carfax, West Street and Swan Walk. People still come in on purpose for independents; they just check the hours and the range first, often from the car park or the train.
I build a public site you can update yourself, so a seasonal table or a sold-out line does not wait on a developer. You get a free homepage mock-up and a fixed written quote. Nothing is payable until you accept it.

What a Horsham shop needs on the website
The site should do the work of a well-kept window: what you sell, when you are open, and how to get the thing home.
Hours that match the high street
Weekdays, Saturdays, and any Sunday or lunchtime change. A wrong closing time is how someone walks from the station and finds the door locked.
What you actually sell
A short range, not a catalogue of everything you have ever had. Three current collections, or a “this month” note you can edit, beats a generic “gifts and more”.
Click and collect, or a plain enquiry
Say whether people can reserve, collect, or only buy in person. Horsham visitors will ask; the site should answer before they message.
Find us from the Carfax and the station
A pin and a landmark or two. People already know the town; they need the last turn, not a history of the market.
Photos of the stock, not a cast of faces
The table, the rail, the window. You do not need people in the pictures. Swap the set when the range changes.
Horsham’s town centre, in useful terms
Horsham is a market town in West Sussex with a walkable centre around the Carfax. Independents sit on West Street and in the lanes off the main square, alongside the larger names in Swan Walk. Visitors mix locals and people coming in from the surrounding Weald.
The website has to work for someone already in town and for someone checking before they travel. Hours and the current range do more than a long brand story.
Your own stock photos and the Google profile you already have show what is on the shelves. Hours and a short “this month” note keep the window accurate for someone checking before they walk from the station.
How the packages fit an independent shop
Launch from £500 is a public site you update yourself — enough when one page can carry the range, the hours and a collect-or-enquire note. Extra pages for collections, about the shop, or a fuller find-us sit in a higher band. Any private admin for stock notes or messages is chosen after we talk, not pre-assigned to a named package.

Questions
We change stock every week — how does the site keep up?
You get a private page to change photos and wording yourself. A short “in this week” block is easier to keep true than a full catalogue. If you later want a larger stock tool, that is a conversation for the quote, not something I will bolt on silently.
People come in from the station and the Carfax — what do we put on Find us?
A pin, the street, and one landmark from each direction. That is enough. A paragraph about parking is useful; a guided tour of the town is not.
Is a website worth it if we already use Instagram?
Instagram is where regulars already are. A website is what people open from Google when they type the town and the kind of shop. It also keeps hours and the range visible when a story has expired. The two can point at each other.
